We are therefore looking for an experienced IT Director to oversee the development and IT operations in our organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of technology, you will be responsible for managing the development teams, IT Operations, and vendors employees, within the IT department; liaising with other departments to ascertain their technological requirements, and developing solutions that are aligned with our organization’s objectives. To be successful as the IT Director, you should have an excellent technical aptitude, as well as superior project and people management skills working in a distributed multicultural environment. Ultimately, an outstanding IT Director will maintain smooth, secure, and updated technical capabilities and operations within our organization.Responsibilities:Manage a team of inhouse and vendor software developers, including senior level, to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of products through the entire life cycle;Work with senior management to maintain an excellent understanding of the business long term goals and strategy; ensuring that the implementation strategy and designs are aligned;Effectively manage vendors to maximize value and ensure alignment with overall business strategic direction;Work with the product teams and technical leads to influence scope, timing and prioritization for product development;Collaborate with product managers, product owners, vendors and architects, to translate business requests into workable functional and non-functional requirements for the development teams to implement;Manage the development budget, ensuring that products and projects are delivered to cost and schedule;Work with the security team to implement DevSecOps and ensure secure operations;Overseeing all IT operations infrastructureServe as mentor and coach to technical delivery staff, inspiring and motivating them to deliver innovative and exciting solutions with an appropriate sense of urgency;Promote knowledge sharing across all technical teams and the wider business;Ensure a culture of design excellence, maturity, quality, collaboration, planning, and responsiveness in the engineering teamsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.Proven minimal of 8 years experience in leading IT development and operations, preferably although not essential in an e-commerce environmentAt least 3 years of management experience in an international IT environment.Demonstrated experience in IT strategy development and implementation.Strong experience with both commercial make and buy software development (SLDC), and offshore supplier management; using Agile methodologies such as SAFeKnowledge of emerging technology trends such as LLM / AI, and their practical implementation are a major plusSound working knowledge of IT operations, systems, and developments; knowledge of intelligent automation (IA) and robotic processes (RPA) are a plusStrong project and program management skills with an emphasis on managing a portfolio of diverse software and technology vendorsSolid analytical and problem-solving skills.Experienced people manager with a proven ability to coach, supervise and motivate staff, ideally through continuous transformationStress-resistant and can handle a big diversity of activities and responsibilities while delivering product at paceExcellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including ability to present ideas in a user-friendly non-technical languageFamiliarity with environmental and sustainability issues is a plus.Job Level: 1BSalary: Commensurate with experienceDeadline: April 28th, 2024Notes: Only candidates authorized to work in The Netherlands will be considered.The Rainforest Alliance is creating a more sustainable world by using social and market forces to protect nature and improve the lives of farmers and forest communities.
