BA Wind is responsible for the development, construction and operation of wind power onshore and offshore as well as other non-hydro renewable activities like solar and batteries. We manage the maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of wind generation assets safely and with the highest levels of availability and profitability. We also perform the structuring and execution of project partnerships in accordance with overall wind strategy.

The Environmental and Sustainability unit (EnSu) within BA Wind is a centralized unit supporting our business activities across onshore, offshore, solar, batteries & hydrogen with the aim of lifting sustainability into every aspect of our business and facilitating co-existence of renewable energy development with society and a rich natural environment.

We are looking for a (Senior) Environment & Sustainability specialist for the (Senior) Strategic Sustainability coordinator & Carbon Footprint expert position in the Environment & Sustainability Unit within our Business Area Wind.

Your main tasks and responsibilities as (Senior) Strategic Sustainability coordinator & Carbon Footprint expert:

  • Strategic sustainability:
    • You will mainly coordinate the implementation of the BA Wind Sustainability Strategy, Roadmap and operating model and follow up on status and progress
    • This entails to keep a detailed overview of BA Wind strategic sustainability initiatives, roadmaps, KPIs & facilitate development of operating models within BA Wind, the link to Vattenfall group activities and monitor progress
    • In addition, you will work closely together with the Head of the Environment & Sustainability Unit to support the development of the points mentioned above
  • Carbon footprint:
    • You will be the point of contact for Vattenfall Group GHG strategic internal & external initiatives
    • You will monitor and report on BA Wind excution of Vattenfall & BA Wind GHG strategic targets and commitments
    • You will facilitate detailed BA Wind GHG emission reduction strategy development and monitor execution together with the relevant EnSu Unit members and business departments
    • You will support in GHG regulation monitoring and business impact assessment and provide ad hoc carbon footprint expert support & serve as knowledge base 
    • Specifically, you will support with GHG expertise for sustainable award criteria / minimum requirements in Offshore Wind auctions
    • Also, you will faciliate and participate in GHG related R&D and external working groups

Qualifications

Your qualifications and personal skills as (Senior) Strategic Sustainability coordinator & Carbon Footprint expert:

  • MSc degree in the field of Sustainability or related fields
  • At least 5 years of working experience in renewable energies, construction, infrastructure or R&D project management
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; a second language such as Dutch, German, Swedish or Danish would be valuable
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices
  • Strong understanding of Sustainability Principles, life cycle assessment and greenhouse gas emissions calculations
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders to build consensus and support for sustainability initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and foster a culture of sustainability throughout the organization
  • Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring of sustainability initiatives to ensure timely and successful implementation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate sustainability goals, progress, and achievements to various stakeholders
  • Willingness to stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in sustainability and carbon management, and adapt strategies accordingly
